May 2014 Favorites

Hey guys! It’s time to say goodbye to May and welcome in another month. I know it’s cliche, but can you believe that the year is half way over? Time has flown! Here’s some of the products I’ve been loving all month long.

Dose of Colors lipsticks in Love Potion and Play Date.

I know I’ve been ranting and raving about these guys, but I can’t get enough of them! They are creamy, pigmented, and the most comfortable lipsticks I’ve ever worn. I wrote a review and posted swatches of these so check that out in the ‘Reviews’ section if you want to see more of my thoughts on them.

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Cheeky Bronze

This is a new product for me and I’m loving it so far. As the name suggests, it’s a gorgeous shimmery bronze that adds a beautiful glow to the skin. My favorite way to wear it over top of my blush to give an “inner glow.” I’m excited to play around with this more as my skin gets a bit darker this summer. I can only image how gorgeous it will look with a tan!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser concealer

I’ve had this product for a few months now, but lately I’ve found that it’s the first concealer I reach for! It has a light consistency but offers great coverage. It blends easily and I haven’t had any issues with it creasing throughout the day. The little round sponge on the top makes me cringe knowing the bacteria that can build up in it, so I need to find a solution to make it more sanitary. Otherwise, its an excellent under eye concealer and I’ll definitely repurchase when it’s gone since I’m getting low!

Maybelline The Elixir in Blush Essence

This gloss is pretty close to perfection. It’s creamy and not sticky and it has excellent color payoff. Not to mention you can snatch up this little guy at the drugstore for only a couple of dollars. You really can’t go wrong! I keep it in my purse and toss on over lipstick or by itself depending on my look for the day. I like it so much that I think I’ll pick up a few more colors next time I visit Target.

Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in 01 Highlight

This is a little sample size that I got when I cashed in some VIB points at Sephora. Since the day I got it I haven’t touched any of my other highlighters! It gives the most gorgeous highlight without making you light up like a disco ball. It also doesn’t have any big glittery pieces in it, which I love. I’ll definitely be picking up the full size once this guy runs out.

Maybelline lipstick in 915 Blushing Beige

This lipstick is from Maybelline’s The Buffs collection which was released a few months ago. I love my nudes, so I had to try some of these. This color in particular has been my favorite. It’s very creamy and pigmented and definitely a true nude. I’ve been wearing it with my smokey eyes and I’m in love!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour blush in Blissful

I’ve had this blush for quite a while and I rediscovered it this month. Let me start by saying how much I adore the Amazonian Clay blushes! They have a very buildable coverage which I love in my blushes. I like to be able to control the intensity with whatever look I’m wearing. They also last all day on my skin. This particular color is a matte pinky-coral that is perfect for the spring and summer.

MAC eyeshadows in Quarry (left) and Soft Brown (right)

These are shadows that I have heard about for years but for some reason never purchased. I can’t even tell you how disappointed I am that I put off buying these for so long! They have easily become staples in my collection. They are both gorgeous in the crease to blend out whatever eyeshadow I’m rocking for the day. I have been using Soft Brown for warmer looks and Quarry for cool shades.

(Pictured in top picture) Ecotools Domed Bronzer Brush

I totally forgot to take a close up of this brush, so sorry! But I’ve had this brush for years and have been neglecting it for about the past year. One day my makeup brushes were all dirty so I reached for this guy to put on my powder and I fell in love with it all over again. It’s extremely dense and put on my powder so beautifully that I haven’t used any other brush since.

Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing what products I’ve been loving throughout May. Here’s to a happy and healthy June!

Dose of Colors Lipstick Review

A few weeks ago I ordered two lipsticks from Dose of Colors. I have seen these babies all over my Instagram timeline and the colors seemed so vibrate and fun that, naturally, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. I picked up the colors Love Potion (right) and Play Date (left).

Dose of Colors

First off, let’s talk about the packaging. I love that they went with white instead of the typical black that we see a lot of cosmetic companies use these days. It’s clean, the logo is nice and fun, and the bottom also shows an accurate representation of the color which is incredibly useful. Even the outer box that the lipstick comes in is colorful and fantastic! I definitely give the packaging an A.

Dose of Colors Hearts

Dose of Colors Swatches

Swatches! I’m crushing pretty hard on Love Potion. It’s like no other color that I own. It’s a bright orchid color that leans a bit toward the purple side. Play Date is a bright coral color that’s perfect for summer. These lipsticks are incredibly long lasting and very comfortable to wear. I honestly can’t think of a single thing I don’t like about them, except maybe that they are only available online, which still isn’t really an issue for me. The shipping was fast and I received my order within 4 days of placing. Dose of Colors also has lipgloss and eyelashes that I’m hoping to try in the future when I pick up a few more lipsticks.

The lipsticks are $16 each (same as MAC) and can be purchased on the Dose of Colors website at http://www.doseofcolors.com

House of Lashes Pixie Luxe Eyelash Review

After seeing my Instagram timeline full of gorgeous lashes from House of Lashes, I finally decided to take the plunge and pick up a pair…or three! I wanted a style that I could wear every day that aren’t insanely dramatic, so I decided on the Pixie Luxe style. I ordered the 3 pack which was $30 and included shipping since shipping is free with a $25 purchase.

These lashes are such good quality! They are nice and full, but not so dramatic that I feel crazy when I wear them. They also have a really long band, so for you girls with large eyes, these are for you! I’ve never had to cut down a band to fit my eyes before, but I did have to take a bit off of these to make them fit.

Another thing I really like about these lashes is that they have a dark band so they blend seamlessly into any eyeliner that you are wearing, or they act like liner if you are skipping some for the day. Here’s a  look that I did wearing these lashes so you can get an idea of how they look on.

I’m really impressed with these lashes and I can definitely see myself picking up more pairs in the future. I’m dying to try out their Noir Fairy style!

You can order from House of Lashes on their website at http://houseoflashes.com/
